It is 1987. We listened to Walkmans and recorded the top 40 on a Sunday. Jeans were tight, dayglo socks were cool and there wasn't a mobile phone in sight. Our friends kept us connected and this is a story of friendship. A group of school kids on the fringes of popularity cling to their little group, bound by their love of music and their loser status in the last traumatic summer of their school lives. As they go their separate ways, they swear to be always there for one another.
But words are like the wind, especially at 17. Fast forward to 2010 and are they still the best of friends or have their teenage promises been broken by the pressures of adulthood and the secrets they left behind? Heart-warming, heart-breaking, funny, and thought provoking in equal measure, Alive & Kicking is a nostalgic rollercoaster ride through the culture and soundtrack of the 1980s.
Junction 4 Productions are proud to present this brand-new musical play created by Chris Sandiford, who brought us the successful If It's Not One Thing It's The Mother and Relationslips. It debuts at the Chapman Studio at The Lowther Pavilion this October.
