ebb & flo bookshop is a family-run independent bookshop in the Lancashire market town of Chorley. Established in 2013, the business moved into a beautiful old three-storey building in March 2025.
The ground floor rooms are dedicated to new books for adults and young adults, plus art cards and bookish gifts, while the first floor houses a great selection of children’s books. The loft room is used for storytimes, visiting author events and as a Topic Book room for schools and can arrange visits for teachers to browse. It’s also available for hire as a meeting space or workshop room.
If there’s a book you want that isn't in stock, ebb & flo can usually order it in for you within a day or two, please ask. Books can be posted out. Visit the online shop on the website or you can support remotely by ordering from bookshop.org and choosing ebb & flo as your bookshop.
Bookshop vouchers and National Book Tokens are available to purchase. Tickets for Chorley Theatre are also on sale.
Author events are a big part of ebb & flo's activity, with great links with local schools, taking authors into schools, supplying books and having a popular Excellent Books subscription package. Keep up to date by signing up to the events newsletter.
Chorley is a great town to be situated in with lots of indie businesses, Astley Park on the doorstep and the West Pennine Moors and Rivington watching over.
