The Dharma Chain has become known for delivering distinctive and captivating live performances across Europe. The band is recognized for their ethereal and at times offensive guitars, reverb-soaked vocals, and industrial undercurrents.
They have toured extensively across Europe and Australia, appearing at festivals such as Fusion, Sharpe, Hoflärm, Praise the Fuzz, Synästhesie Festival and Yonder. In 2022, following their relocation from Australia to Berlin, TDC signed with Anomic Records and released their debut studio album, Nowhere, showcasing their unmistakably unique sound. Emerging from Byron Bay, Australia, and now thriving in Berlin, TDC, founded in 2020, brings a fluid, ever-shifting approach to their live performances. With no front person, roles constantly shift between members, allowing multiple singers and guitarists to build a powerful wall of sound. This creates a dynamic and unpredictable live experience, where the collaborative energy forms the backbone of their music, ensuring each performance feels like a new journey, constantly evolving and never static. Their debut studio album, Nowhere, has garnered significant recognition, including being named Feature Album of the Week on multiple radio stations. It has received airplay on 55 stations worldwide, with highlights including a live performance on Radio Eins (Germany) and spins on stations such as Amazing Radio (UK/USA), Triple R (Australia), and Radio 3 (Spain).
The album was recorded in an abandoned church in the Gold Coast Hinterland with later sessions in a Berlin basement studio. The album spans a spectrum from abrasive and apocalyptic to vulnerable and soft, mirroring the band's transition from Australia to Berlin and their evolving creative journey.
What they say……
'The driving rhythm section lifts the ethereal din of guitar swathes and reverbed vocals. Their music has that retro-futuristic 90s psych vibe, that revamped nostalgia line where the classic hazy drone is infused with RnR sex and sleaze. The show at Sharpe showed they deserve to be big players on the European psych scene', Under The Radar (USA).
'Berlin really comes through on this one, with a strong aggressive and industrial undercurrent to proceedings; all delivered with a healthy dose of fuzzy guitars, of course', The AU Review (Australia).
'The song crescendos and the empty space are filled in with driving drums and fuzzy guitar noise the characters awaken from their daze and flee from the spectre, ultimately uniting and thus escaping their isolation. An impressive metaphor in which sound and visual elements are in perfect harmony giving an outstanding result that demonstrates the savoir-faire of The Dharma Chain', Metal Magazine (Spain).
'It's a serene nod to shoegaze and fever dreams, and draws sonic inspiration from the masters, such as Ride and Slowdive. Succumb to the wall of sound and drown in the fluttering harmonic delays', Psychedelic Baby Magazine (Slovenia).
This gig will be upstairs in Atika which has no lift.
