Inspired by the fashions of Jane Austen's novels like Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, this exhibition features original gorgeous Georgian dresses, fabulous fans and wonderful waistcoats. This is a show about fashion, costume and style. Think Lizzy Bennet and Mr Darcy for the classic clothes of the early 1800s then be shocked by the extravagant styles of the 1830s. You can also discover the colonial connections threaded through fabrics with links like African slavery and Indian cotton.
The exhibition features costume, accessories and archive material that show the dramatic wardrobe changes from the 1800s to 1830s, all in the period rooms of Lancaster's oldest town house.
