On several dates throughout the year, you can dine in style on board our Royal Saloon

The Royal Saloon will be added to the train on the following dates :-

Monday 6th April – Easter Monday

Monday 26th May – Bank Holiday Monday

Saturday 20th June – Fathers Day Celebrations

Saturday 25th July – Summer Saturday

Monday 31st August – Bank Holiday Weekend

Saturday 26th September – Autumn Gala Weekend

The Royal Saloon was built by the Great Eastern Railway in 1898 and has recently been fully restored by our volunteers. The carriage was specifically built for Princess Alexandra, wife of the future King Edward VII.

We will be serving refreshments throughout the day. In the morning we will be seving At lunchtime we will be serving a Ploughman's Lunch with a beer or a glass of white wine (non alcoholic alternative also available). In the afternoon we will be serving Alison's Cream Tea or Afternoon Tea. For an extra touch of luxury you can also add a glass of prosecco.

The ticket price includes entrance to our wonderful museum, cafe, shop, the supplement to travel in the Royal Saloon and unlimited travel in standard class accommodation on all other trains thorough out the day. We also have a gift shop selling railway themed souvenirs and a tea room serving drinks & light refreshments.

11.00am Train – Morning Coffee and Cake

12.00 pm and 1pm Train – Ploughman's Lunch

Ploughman's Lunch in the Royal Saloon
Join us at 12 o'clock or 1 o'clock for a return trip on the Ribble Steam Railway whilst enjoying our take on a Ploughman's Lunch, consisting of cheese, pate, mini pork pie, tomatoes, grapes, pickles and bread with a beer, a glass of white wine or an apple juice.

Adults £27.50 (£12.50 General admission +£5.00 Royal Saloon Supplement + £10.00 Ploughman's Lunch).

Children £20.00 (£7.50 General admission +£2.50 Royal Saloon Supplement + £10.00 Ploughman's Lunch).

The Ploughman's Lunch is not recommended for children under 8 years old.

2:00pm Train – Traditional Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea in the Royal Saloon
For the Afternoon Tea you will be served a selection of sandwiches, a mini pork pie, sausage rolls, cream and jam scones, cup cakes and a mini trifle, along with hot drinks. You can also include a glass of Prosecco for the adults on arrival for £5.00

Adults £37.50 (£12.50 General admission +£5.00 Royal Saloon Supplement + £20.00 Afternoon Tea).

Children £30.00 (£7.50 General admission +£2.50 Royal Saloon Supplement + £20.00 Afternoon Tea).

The Afternoon Tea is not recommended for children under 8 years old.

3pm Train – Cream Tea

Cream Tea in the Royal Saloon
Join us for one return trip on the Ribble Steam Railway whilst enjoying a Cream Tea consisting of and jam and cream scones and hot drinks. You can also include a glass of Prosecco for the adults on arrival for £5.00

Adults £25.00 (£12.50 General admission +£5.00 Royal Saloon Supplement + £7.50 Cream Tea).

Children £17.50 (£7.50 General admission +£2.50 Royal Saloon Supplement + £7.50 Cream Tea).

The Cream Tea is not recommended for children under 8 years old.

Booking details

Space is limited to a maximum of 14 guests per train so early booking is advisable.

Unfortunately due its age and method of construction, we are sorry but the Royal Saloon is not accessible to wheelchair users. Due to limitations in the Royal Saloon kitchen we regret we are unable to cater for special dietary requirements or guarantee that food is prepared in a nut free environment.

Tickets are non-refundable. No refunds will be made for cancellations or non arrivals.
