Restoring the Airspeed Oxford & Amy Johnson Story

Eric Watkiss will host this informative talk, with team members on hand to show their guests the latest project on this rare Airspeed Oxford Project. Eric is a Hangar 42 volunteer and Director of the Saving Amy CIC, Airspeed Oxford restoration project. The talk will give an insight of the final hours, leading up to the sad loss of Amy Johnson, after departing from RAF Squires Gate, now Blackpool Airport, in an Airspeed Oxford destined for RAF Kidlington, Oxford but she never arrived. Eric will then talk about the last dash recovery of the Oxford and the subsequent World wide search for rare parts to restore this important Aircraft to play a central role in the Hangar 42 project and to stand as a fitting memorial to Amy herself .
