Propellor: Flight. In conversation

This event officially launches Propellor’s new podcast series, Flight, created in collaboration with one of the UK’s leading authors on nature Mark Cocker and a host of incredible writers, artists and musicians.

Formed in 2017, Propellor consists of soloists, writers and ensemble players who’ve come together from a diverse range of backgrounds to create immersive live experiences through combined art forms.  Flight is their second project, exploring connections between birds, soundscape ecology and music.

In this special evening of music and discussion, Propellor director Jack McNeill will take the audience on a journey that traces the connections between astounding bird migrations, how we listen and why it matters, electronic reconstructions of imagined and real soundscapes, and the science inbetween.  Alongside ensemble members Delia Stevens, Robin Beatty and guest Leafcutter John, Flight. In Conversation will weave music from the podcast through live conversations with Mark Cocker and Linda O Keeffe.

Performers:
Jack McNeill – clarinet/bass clarinet/live processing
Delia Stevens – percussion
Robin Beatty – electric guitar/live visuals
Leafcutter John – live electronics
Mark Cocker – author
Linda O Keeffe – sound artist
