Winter is one of the best times to visit Martin Mere Wetland Centre as they welcome up to 2,000 whooper swans from Iceland and thousands of other species of ducks, waders and perching birds.
Visit Martin Mere during weekends and school holidays for My Great Winter Adventure activities and explore the journey of migratory birds that visit during the colder months. Learn about the conservation work the team undertakes, such as how they ring birds to track their movements and the problems birds face on their way to Martin Mere. Pick up your free trail card and take part in the exciting winter trail, to see if you can spot key migratory species on the mere.
Here's what's on offer this winter:
Have a go at ringing toy birds in the exhibition hall.
See thousands of wild birds at the daily bird feeding sessions.
Speak to one of the guides in the Discovery Hide to learn fascinating facts about the reserve.
Head to the craft room and get creative, making your very own recycled bird feeder.
