Lancaster and District Choral Society invite you to experience the dramatic and awe-inspiring music of Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
First performed in England in 1846 at Birmingham Town Hall, this magnificent oratorio tells the story of Elijah’s courage, faith, and fiery confrontation with false prophets, capturing moments of intense drama and profound beauty. Mendelssohn’s masterful composition breathes life into the narrative with triumphant choruses, deeply moving arias, and vibrant orchestration.
