How to Paint Birds with Graham Lowe
Beginners and more experienced artists have the opportunity to learn how to paint a Goldfinch.

Artist, Graham Lowe, is running a 'How to Paint Birds' workshop at Barton Grange Garden Centre.

Course participants will work with acrylic paints to build a realistic bird painting following step-by-step tuition. They will learn how to paint feathers while also depicting light and shade, and how to paint birds' eyes, beaks and complementary backgrounds too. Everyone will receive a good amount of one-to-one time over the course of the day.

Please bring along the following:

A selection of acrylic paints, System 3 are a good student quality. I recommend the following colours: Titanium white, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, burnt sienna, crimson, cadmium red and burnt umber. A range of brushes for acrylic paints: 1inch flat, 1/2inch flat and a small round for fine detail. Pro-arte or System 3 are good quality brushes and relatively inexpensive. Two sheets of A4 watercolour paper or cartridge paper. A permanent black marker. A 2B pencil and an eraser.
A palette. A water container. A roll of masking tape. Kitchen roll. Newspaper to cover the table.

Tickets are £23 including tea/coffee and you can book your place by visiting our tills department or by calling 01995 642980.
