Festive Crafts: Silk Scarf and Tote Bag Decorating
Create two wonderfully unique gifts for a loved one... Or yourself! Dye a tote bag and a silk or wool scarf [approx. 135cm x 30cm] with onion skins or buddleia flowers. In this fun workshop, you will learn about sustainability and natural fibres, the basics of natural dyes and pigments, specifically onion skins and buddleia, how to extract dye from plant matter, simple shibori (tie dye) techniques for creating patterns with dyes, using clothes pegs, marbles and string, clamping between jar lids and/or ceramic tiles, about dramatic colour modification with iron. No experience is necessary.
Tea and coffee also provided.
