Join the artist Sarah-Joy Ford, for a closing circle in the Servants Hall where there will be the opportunity to stitch, chat, learn new sewing skills and reflect on Judges' Lodgings story.
In this free session you will have the opportunity to learn hand beading, and embellishment techniques. All the materials needed are provided, including a square of your own Listening to Lancaster printed fabric, previously created for the exhibition now on display in the Dining Room. However, if you are working on your own stitching/embroidery project already, or have an item you wish to embellish, you are more than welcome to bring it along to work on too.
It will be an opportunity to sit, stitch and connect with other people interested in sewing and social history. This will be a relaxed session, with no prior experience needed and snacks and drinks available throughout.
This is the final workshop in the series, Listening to Lancaster: Stitching with Paupers, Poachers and Vagrants, part of the Unravelling Threads: Working Class Lives exhibition 2025-2026. The final form of the sound piece will be shared that was created with the support of previous workshop participants, made with Hannah Singleton and Leverett Jaques. Please find access details about the museum on the main page and if you have any specific requirements and would like to discuss these ahead of time please get in touch with Judges Lodgings' directly.
