Child Labour in Victorian Lancashire Lunchtime Lecture

The story of Lancashire's Industrial Revolution is a story of child labour. Many children worked long hours in dangerous conditions risking their health to help support the family income particularly in the cotton mills. But what about other industries such as mining, services and agriculture? And was there plenty of work for young children everywhere in Lancashire? How did the growth of education affect child labour? Dr Mike Winstanley reveals the true history of child labour in 19th century Lancashire.
