Old Baby Mackerel are a high-energy bluegrass act that are making waves on the international bluegrass scene. They were recently featured on BBC 6 Music, in The British Bluegrass News and completed a run of sold-out shows at venues across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. They have played main stage slots at UK festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and Latitude, as well as festivals such as Westport Bluegrass (Ireland), Willisau Bluegrass (Switzerland), Nääsville (Sweden), Pflasterspektakel (Austria) and Jai Thep (Thailand).
Their music uses banjo, mandolin, guitar and double bass to get knees bouncing and elbows swinging to the sweet harmonies, blistering solos and driving rhythm of the authentic Bluegrass sound. Be prepared to be transported back in time and space to early 20th Century North America where songs dramatised the small town fascination with locomotion, love, violence and the veneration of bootleg liquor.
