Blizzoween makes a 2025 stop off in Lancaster this year and one of the favourite bands to have graced the stage at Kanteena, Evil Blizzard.
Blizzoween is a celebration of Halloween and Evil Blizzard. Expect fancy dress competitions, great support from Dog Show and The Crippens with the after party being taken upstairs for a night of weird spooky tunes to see us into the early hours.
Formed by accident in a fog of booze and regret, Evil Blizzard have been confusing people for over a decade now. Infamous for their masked multi-bass guitar assault, their gigs have become synonymous with both chaos and celebration. One early review described them as 'more likely to win the Turner Prize than the Mercury' and the late, great, Mark E Smith described them as 'giving me hope that music is still alive' and promptly took them out on tour with The Fall, paying for their debut album to be recorded. Since then they have graced everywhere from the front page of national newspapers to the most underground festivals, and have managed to avoid any pigeonhole with their mixture of psych, metal, punk, and krautrock, building a ridiculously loyal following across Europe. Playing alongside bands as varied as Hawkwind, Killing Joke, and Public Image Ltd, they have alienated and enthralled audiences in equal measures. Their fourth studio album Rotting In The Belly Of The Whale on their own Crackedankles Records, has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
Time to unleash more misery.
