New attractions in Rossendale include the adrenaline gateway at Lee Quarry Mountain Bike Trail in Bacup where riders can test their skills on the red and black routes; one of the designers is world class competitor Rowan Sorrel.

If you’re interested in discovering more about Rossendale’s textile industries, don’t miss the award winning nearby Helmshore Textile Museum, where a series of interactive exhibits shows you how raw wool and cotton was transformed into yarn.

Lamberts Mill Shop in Rawtenstall is a must see, with the Footwear Museum, 23 local producers, Annie Peach’s Tea Room and bespoke niche handmade upholstery, you are sure to find that special unique gift.

In the autumn of 2010, a state of the art Golf Rossendale Driving Range and Academy in Rawtenstall opened their doors offering the perfect venue to practice that swing!

For a bird’s eye view of the whole area, head up to Top o’ Slate and admire the spectacular scenery. While you’re up there, don’t miss the Halo Panopticon, a fabulous contemporary sculpture which resembles a UFO hovering off the ground from a distance. It’s especially dramatic at night lit from beneath by a series of blue LED lights.
