Looking for the ultimate escape for you and your partner? Treating your best friends to a weekend away to relax and unwind? Or even getting away on a solo staycation? If you want the ultimate luxury, finest foods and greatest getaway memories, look no further than Lancashire.

Lancashire has it all, from fine dining to 5 star retreats, where you will be wined and dined and treated to the best service around. Take a look at our weekend itinerary to make the most of the red carpet experiences you can find in this beautiful county.

Friday:

Arrive in the beautiful city of Lancaster where you can check in to Quite Simply French Restaurant and Rooms. The fine dining experience on offer in this stunning quayside restaurant is unrivalled, with a menu bursting with, as the name suggests, top quality French inspired meals using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant has four exclusive and beautifully decorated rooms nestled under the eaves of its historic building with free standing baths, rainforest shows and designer furnishings. What’s more it is within walking distance of the city centre, where you can find a variety of music acts each weekend and the fantastic Dukes Theatre & Cinema which offers performances and cinema screenings throughout the year. Throughout summer the Dukes Theatre offers a fantastic immersive outdoor theatre production in the nearby Williamson Park too.

Saturday:

Upon waking up in Lancaster you can take a tour of the historic Lancaster Castle, situated on the hill just behind your accommodation. The Castle was a prison until just over 10 years ago and now provides a fantastic insight to its past as a place of defence, justice, persecution and imprisonment. The castle is also well known for its history with the infamous Pendle Witches too.

Then it’s into the car for a drive through the beautiful Forest of Bowland. This breathtaking Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the perfect place for a stroll or a picnic. Don’t fill up too much though, as your next stop involves a spot of afternoon tea at Mitton Hall, a stunning country house in the Ribble Valley.

Once you’ve enjoyed your afternoon tea, head down the valley to Ribble Valley Retreat for the ultimate glamping experience. Relax in your choice of a cosy shepherd’s hut with underfloor heating and ensuite bathroom, or a luxury canvas bell tent with stylish furnishings. Then curl up to enjoy a BBQ in the Lancashire summer evening overlooking Pendle Hill, or walk the eight minutes to the Michelin star restaurant at Northcote if you really want to treat yourself.

Sunday:

Enjoy a lazy start to your day, woken up by the sounds of nature and views across the stunning countryside. Then hop in the car for your last leg of your journey over to the beautiful grounds of Gawthorpe Hall, a beautiful historic home owned by the National Trust. The landscaped grounds offer an ornamental terraced garden, plus there are 40 acres of woodland to explore. The hall itself opens at noon and is home to the renown Gawthorpe Textile Collection, one of the finest collections of textiles in Europe.

Once you’ve had a stroll around the Hall and it’s grounds you can escape for the ultimate relaxation with a day spa experience at nearby Crow Wood Hotel & Spa Resort. Spend the afternoon in The Woodland Spa Thermal Experience, recently voted the UK’s best hotel spa in the Good Spa Awards for the second year running. Treat yourself to a massage or one of the amazing treatments on offer. Then enjoy an evening meal in Wilfred’s Restaurant & Bar followed by an evening in the luxury Crow Wood Hotel.

These are just some of the incredible places you can go in Lancashire to be treated like a celebrity, but we have so many great places to enjoy luxury getaways in the county.
