Junior Archaeologists: Neolithic Pottery Workshop at Clitheroe Castle

Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology 2026 and book your young archaeologists (age 7 years +) onto one of the pottery workshops.  Discover the prehistoric past through pottery.  Get messy with some clay and learn about the invention of pottery from thumb pots to coil pots.  Look at designs and replicate using sticks, stamps and fingernails.  Each young archaeologist will take their coil pot home and receive their very own certificate to take away, too.

The pottery session lasts around 45 minutes.  Please book online or phone, email, or call in at the museum shop for more information.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.  An alternative self-guided activity will be provided for younger children (under 7 years) accompanying children taking part.

Clitheroe Castle Museum is managed by Lancashire County Council's Museum Service on behalf of Ribble Valley Borough Council.
