Do you know how your clothes are made? Have you ever wondered how our ancestors made their clothes without machines and electricity? Well come down to Queen Street Mill and learn all about the history of textiles. Each day we'll explore a new period of history, and learn all about how past communities lived, and how they made all their stuff. From simple stone-age hand weaving, through to Viking Peg Weaving and Saxon Tapestry Weaving, we'll be exploring how ancient communities created textiles.
In this session, we'll be exploring the Saxons. How did the Saxons live? How did they make things? What clothes did they wear? In this hands on, family-friendly session we'll find the answers. You can learn how to create pictures and colourful scenes through weaving, and you can have a go at making cloth just like they did.
A unique and fun way to explore the history of textiles in an iconic heritage venue.
