Join Showtown and artist Lisa Wigham for a walking tour of Blackpool to discover the town's unique signage and typography. See part-hidden examples of heritage lettering processes and hear stories of how they were made.
Then have a go yourself creating your own sign on reclaimed wood, during a typography workshop. Feel free to bring any photos along of interesting signs you have spotted.
This introductory workshop in sign making will be delivered by artist Lisa Wigham. Lisa will share skills from this tradition to get you started on layout of text and colour. Make your own sign on reclaimed wood to take away for your home or garden. Suitable for curious beginners or experienced makers.
Lisa is a traditional sign painter, based in Blackpool. She applies her love of this now endangered craft to projects for people’s homes, businesses and as public art.
