John began his apprenticeship in the 1960's with Italian glass maker Giancarlo Toffolo, and over the last four decades, he and his team have created glassware sold world wide in top galleries and department stores, including Harrods and Libertys in London, Neiman Marcus in USA, C.K. Tang of Singapore and Ditting of Switzerland.
In the workshop, the main furnace glows 24 hours a day, seven days a week at temperatures up to 1,400 degrees Celcius. Seeing John and the other glassblowers work is an experience you will never forget. Visitors can watch from a safe viewing area while the master craftsmen use tools and techniques developed over hundreds of years. The studio specialises in decorating glass while in its liquid state, applying an array of different colours and patterns. See them 'gather' the molten glass from the roaring furnace and transform this liquid material into stunning pieces of art. Try to guess what is being made as the skilled craftsmen roll shape and blow life into various forms.
A visit to the Glasform studio is a friendly, enjoyable experience for all. You will never look at glass in quite the same way.
