Part recital and part storytelling, "Wonder Women" is a celebration of the forgotten female composers of the 18th and 19th centuries. Pianist Sarah Hagen brings her unique blend of humour and excellence to the stage in this personal and intimate recital which explores the lives and music of Clara Schumann, Cécile Chaminade, Agathe Backer Grøndahl, and others. Breaking down barriers with her engaging personality and hilarious sense of fun, she warmly invites listeners into the incredible and distinct world of classical music. "Her comic timing is as solid as her musical meter." [The Edmonton Journal]
Awarded as Artist of the Year by Ontario Contact (2017) and the British Columbia Touring Council (2015), a First Prize Winner in the 2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and mentioned by The Guardian (Charlottetown) as the Best Classical Performance of 2014, Sarah is making an impact in communities across Canada and beyond. Her interpretations have been described as "outstandingly inventive" [University of Waterloo Gazette], "played flawlessly" [ReviewVancouver] and "with great sensitivity and heart." [Vernon Morning Star]. Touring as both a solo pianist and as a humorist, "Hagen reminds us the beauty of how an honest solo performance can make you so easily fall in love with its performer." [Montreal Rampage]
