The countdown has begun for the yellow jersey to return to the UK in July 2027 – and what a welcome it will be! Both the 2027 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift editions of the race will roll out of UK locations, marking a historic milestone for the events outside of France.
Eighty miles of this fantastic sporting event will pass through Lancashire with the event passing through Carnforth down to West Lancashire, taking in Morecambe, Lancaster, the Forest of Bowland, Clitheroe, Blackburn and Chorley.
Echoing the scenes of the 2014 Grand Départ in Yorkshire, stages planned for England, Scotland and Wales will showcase Britain’s diverse landscapes, alongside the nation’s enthusiasm for cycling. It’s set to be the largest free sporting spectacle in British history as millions are expected to line the streets, with the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift a major draw given its first staging in the UK.
The men’s Tour de France will begin in Edinburgh on Friday 2 July 2027, with an opening stage heading to Carlisle, before visiting Keswick, Liverpool and Welshpool, finishing the UK leg of the world’s biggest annual sporting event in Cardiff.
The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will start in Leeds on Friday 30 July 2027, before crossing Lancashire and heading to Manchester, then the race returns to Sheffield via the climbs of the Peak District before concluding with a showpiece stage in London.
