The Continental: Wino and Conny Ochs

Type:Concert

The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston, Lancs, PR1 8JP

Tel: 01772 499425

The Continental: Wino and Conny Ochs
Continuing its series of doom-related shows, The Continental is really pleased to be hosting one of the acknowledged kings of the genre, Scott 'Wino' Weinrich, in an acoustic setting.

Wino is touring with the German singer-writer Conny Ochs, promoting their new collaborative album 'Heavy Kingdom'. Wino and Conny Ochs will both be performing solo acoustic sets and then doing some numbers from the album together.

The Continental is also tremendously excited to be presenting the first Northern show from Mary Epworth and the Jubilee Band, influenced by traditional English song, 60s west coast Psychedelia, and Greek Progressive Rock, and whose 'Black Doe' single has been playlisted on BBC 6 Music.

The show takes place on Tuesday March 20th at 8pm.

Tickets are £6 advance (£8 on the door) and are available from The Continental’s Bar (01772 499 425), Preston Visitor Information (at the Guild Hall, 01772 253 731), Action Records (01772 884 772) and online from wegottickets and seetickets

Drive: From North/East or South. Come off the M6 at Junction 31, Samlesbury. Follow the signs for Preston (A59). Go past the Tickled Trout Hotel and head up the hill. You will be travelling along the full length of the A59 New Hall Lane (approximately 3 miles). Eventually you will come to a major T-Junction with the A6 London Road. Homebase will be in front of you. Turn right at this junction. Go through two sets of lights (junction with Church Street, then the Bus Station). Continue along the A6 Ringway. Go straight ahead at the junction with Fishergate (Grey Friars and Black Bull Pub on the corner). At the next junction, take the second left into Corporation Street, following signs for the Railway Station. Turn right at the staggered junction with Fishergate, past the Railway Station heading down Fishergate hill. Head through the next set of lights (Junction with Bow Lane). After the lights take the fourth turning on the left into South Meadow Lane (Casa Ceramica tile shop is on the corner). Continue along South Meadow Lane, past the Cricketers Arms and the Hindu Temple - the road here now bends to the right and then to the left. We are located at the end of the road, next to the Railway Bridge and entrance to Miller Park.

When you arrive at the junction of Liverpool Road/Strand Road turn right/go straight along Broadgate, Turn left onto Connaught Road which is the tenth road on your right. There is a small sign directing to the BAC Club on the corner. Drive straight along Connaught Road until you reach the end, then turn right onto South Meadow Lane. The pub is a couple of hundred yards along on the right next to the Railway Bridge..

By Bus: From the bus station catch the Stagecoach service numbers 2/2A/3/3A down Fishergate, go past the railway station, down the hill and get off at the junction of Fishergate Hill and Broadgate (just before the bridge over the river Ribble) in front of the row of shops. From here, it's just a 10 minute walk down Broadgate. Keep going down the full length. The road then turns into a footpath for a short distance along the river. You then get the pub, on the corner of Riverside and South Meadow Lane, by the Railway Bridge
