A circular exploration of Sabden’s industrial history discovering the 17C remains of Heyhouses, the crucial role played by water in the 18-19C calico printworks and the 19C cotton mills. The walk finishes with the ‘Lost Railway’, disastrous fires and Sabden’s ‘Water Wars’.
The walk will be approx 3.5 with uneven ground, fields, lanes and tracks with some moderate slopes. Expect stiles.
Walkers need stout shoes or boots and wet weather gear.
Dogs welcome, but must be kept on a short lead.
