Holmes Mill is one of Lancashire’s most distinctive destinations — a beautifully restored former textile mill in the heart of Clitheroe, where industrial heritage meets unforgettable food, drink, entertainment and hospitality experiences.
Part of the award-winning James’ Places collection, Holmes Mill has become a firm favourite with both locals and visitors, whether stopping by for a relaxed coffee, a weekend stay, live music in the sunshine or an evening of food, drinks and friendly competition.
At the heart of the site is the famous Beer Hall, home to Bowland Brewery and what is believed to be the longest continuous bar in Britain. Showcasing hundreds of beers from Lancashire, across the UK and around the world, it’s a destination for beer lovers and casual drinkers alike. From cask ales and craft lagers to international favourites and seasonal brews, the atmosphere is lively, welcoming and unmistakably unique.
Outside, the Mill Yard comes alive throughout the summer months with free live music, alfresco dining and one of the best pub garden atmospheres in the county. Whether you’re enjoying drinks in the sunshine, catching up with friends over lunch or simply soaking up the atmosphere with coffee and cake, it’s a place people return to time and time again. Dogs are welcome too, making it perfect for relaxed summer days out.
Food lovers will also find plenty to explore in the Food Hall & Café, located within the atmospheric Boiler House. Alongside breakfast, brunch, lunches and homemade cakes, visitors can browse shelves packed with artisan cheeses, deli favourites, pies and foodie finds sourced from across the region.
For those looking for something more interactive, Bowland Social brings a playful new dimension to Holmes Mill. Combining duckpin bowling, virtual darts, shuffleboard, crazy golf, clay shooting and more, it’s quickly become a go-to destination for nights out, celebrations and family fun — all served alongside great food, drinks and snacks.
Visitors can also stay overnight at The Spinning Block Hotel, a stylish conversion of the oldest mill buildings, perfectly placed for exploring Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley.
With brewery tours, seasonal events and a packed calendar of entertainment throughout the year, Holmes Mill is far more than a place to visit — it’s somewhere to experience.
