Did you know that some rocks float? Which is the only rock that humans can eat? Meet the Geologists to find out more about the rocks and minerals we see and use every day. Challenge our experts by bringing your own rock for identification. There's lots of hands on family activities throughout the day.
Why not visit the museum too and explore our Geology Gallery - "The Rock Beneath Your Feet." Find out about the many geological sites of Special Scientific Interest around Clitheroe such as Salthill Quarry. And, if you look closely at the stones in the buildings in the Castle complex you will soon see lots of fossilised crinoids giving a glimpse into a prehistoric landscape that was once covered in a warm shallow sea.
