This ride is an opportunity to gain cycling confidence, leave the car at home, meet like-minded people, enjoy the beautiful Bowland countryside and, most importantly, have fun!
As the ride is part of the ‘Feast Bowland’ week, there will be a very important lunch stop at Gazegill Organics, where you can sample some wonderful local produce in the new off-grid café there.
This session is aimed at more confident riders, as it covers up to 30 miles of mixed terrain and provides wonderful views, with short ascents and descents. There will be plenty of opportunities for stops to take in the beautiful scenery and chat with fellow riders and instructors. The ride will all be on the road. It is suitable for road bikes, hybrid bikes, gravel bikes or mountain bikes.
Who is the ride for? You will need to be over 18 years old to take part. The ride is aimed at those who can already ride a bike but want to gain more confidence and ride a little bit further afield. This ride is perfect for those who have a good level of general fitness, and a basic level of cycling fitness, but don't consider themselves to be ‘club’ cyclists. You don’t have to be able to ride fast - just be able to ride, gain knowledge and, most importantly, enjoy yourself.
What to expect? · The ride is led by a qualified Instructor. · Up to 4 hours including stops, time for discussions and, of course, lunch! · The ride will start and finish in Clitheroe. · Pace-adjusted to suit the needs of all riders. The aim is for a comfortable pace where conversations can be held. · Bikes and helmets can be loaned by prior arrangement if needed. There may be an additional fee to borrow a bike. TBC
Why should I get involved? You will:- · Discover where to ride around the Bowland villages · Develop safe riding strategies · Meet like-minded people, who you may want to continue riding with · Gain confidence · Learn about group cycling · Learn about local cycling clubs.
The aim of the ride is to build confidence, fitness, knowledge of a route around the local area, and a routine that you can continue after the session, without the instructor.
£15 per person. (Plus additional charge for lunch.)
