Graham McLoughlin FRAS, Secretary of Preston and District Astronomical Society, has a special interest in local astronomical history. Join him online as he turns the clock back to 29th June, 1927 and the first total eclipse of the sun to be viewed from the UK in over 200 years.
The narrow eclipse path spanned north Wales and the North West of England, with the moon's shadow departing over Hartlepool and the North Sea. Many travelled to the Forest of Bowland to observe the phenomenon, with over 30,000 people gathering on Waddington Fell to observe this once in a lifetime spectacle.
Graham will share archive images and reports of this very out of the ordinary event.
