Blackpool Male Voice Choir Centenary Concert

Blackpool Male Voice Choir, finalists in the 2022 Lancashire Choir of the Year competition, invite the people of Blackpool to help them celebrate a momentous occasion – a Centenary Concert.

The received history of the Blackpool Male Voice Choir indicated that the choir was formed at Raikes Parade Methodist Church in 1923 under the name of Blackpool Male Choristers and consequently the centenary was always envisaged to be in 2023. However, in 2022, an article in the Blackpool Gazette suggested that the choir had an older history than was previously known, making reference to the activities of the choir, known then as Blackpool Male Voice Choir, in 1911! Our Centenary Concert, albeit at least 12 years late, is to be held in the Spanish Hall in the Winter Gardens – ironic that the choir is older than this magnificent feature of the Winter Gardens, but very appropriate that our celebration should be at the very heart of entertainment in Blackpool.
