Armchair Archaeology with Ribble Valley Archaeology

Are you interested in archaeology but don't know where to start?  Do you want to know more about archaeology in your local area?  Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology and join Ribble Valley Archaeology for a glimpse into the many resources available online.  Call in and find out how to discover new local ancient sites from the comfort of your own home using satellite imagery on the web.

Would you also like to experience archaeology first hand?  A recent citizen science project run by DigVentures found over 12,000 archaeological sites.  Would you be interested in learning how to find a few more?  Members of Ribble Valley Archaeology will be on hand to show you how and answer any questions you have about community archaeology and the work they are doing.  You will also get to see and handle some artefacts from a local excavation and learn about some of the techniques archaeologists use to discover what those finds tell us about people's lives in the past.

Ribble Valley Archaeology are an amateur archaeological group, made up of volunteers, who undertake excavations and other archaeological research in the Ribble Valley and Bowland area.

The event is free, no need to book.  Drop in throughout the day.
