Inside you are welcomed by its warm and cosy open plan living area, magnificently homely kitchen, and a dining area enjoying a panoramic view over the tranquil landscape.
At Shawclough Barn you are treated to all those things you would love to have in a cottage - stylish wood burner, cosy and capacious sofa, incredible views out across the landscape over to the moors and a sense of history through the contemporary lighting reminding guests of the area’s former textile history. Upstairs the luxury continues with a super king bed uniquely styled under a-framed beams and featuring a freestanding roll-top bath to relax in, resting beneath Velux windows. Adjacent there is an absolutely stunning separate wet-room with wood-effect tiling, walk-in 'rain shower', twin basins and WC. Outside you can relax in private on your own patio, fire up a BBQ and soak in the hot tub, taking in the view for miles. What’s not to like.
“What a truly wonderful place Shawclough Barn is! So beautiful, so comfortable, every little thing perfectly thought of and provided. THE most comfortable bed ever known! The views from the bedroom window in the morning make your soul sing. We loved the hot tub and sat late into the night beneath the stars …”
Shawclough Farm was a working farm until the late seventies when the land was sold off and it started its domestic transformation. Shawclough Barn was the second of two barns added to the original farmhouse and would have housed cattle downstairs and chickens upstairs. The farm dates from circa 1900 and was located in an area known as 'Black Lane Ends'. Little trace is left of this area, a few references in historical articles and one remaining signpost on Wharley Wise Lane opposite your most local pub which has also adopted the name 'Black Lane Ends Tavern'.

Shawclough Barn is co-located with Shawclough Farm – look out for a wooden sign on the road side with the name of 'Shawclough Farm'. Please note the postcode will send you to Pasture Farm which is half a mile further up the road from Shawclough Farm. If approaching uphill look out for the sign for Jerusalem Farm on the left, a prominent red sign with a horse’s head, the turning for Shawclough Farm is about 250m further on, on the left. If approaching downhill then continue past the Pasture Farm entrance (where the postcode takes you) until you see the next building on the left (The Old School House, approx. half a mile). The entrance road to Shawclough Farm is then about 100m on your right.
