Award winning Leighton Hall, Carnforth, is the lived-in house of the famous furniture making Gillow dynasty. A visit to Leighton is an opportunity to unravel the fascinating past of this ancient, Lancashire family, to wander through the spectacular grounds and pretty gardens.
As well as the house and grounds, Leighton has a children’s play area and caterpillar maze, plant conservatory and charming tea rooms.
This beautiful property, which dates back to 1246, draws thousands of visitors each year to explore its beautiful rooms and acres of gardens which are still lived in by the Leighton family today. You’ll be able to listen to a guide – or even a family member - as they guide you round and bring the history of the hall to life. And as there are no roped off areas inside you can even sit in some of the hall’s ancient chairs or play a tune on the Concert Steinway piano!
Leighton Hall can be found in the north of Lancashire, just outside Carnforth, a few miles from the city of Lancaster nestling in a bowl of parkland against a backdrop of English Lake District hills.
