Back for the third year, the UKTV Local Food Hero Awards are a tribute to Britain's independent food businesses. Food lovers have been asked to nominate, vote for, and reward their food heroes' passion for providing great local food. Voting has now closed and the results will be announced on the TV series Gary Rhodes' Local Food Heroes in November.
In November, you will be able to follow the final search for the winner, when Local Food Heroes 2008 is broadcast. The series will celebrate the strongest contenders from each region, and at the end of each episode, a regional winner will be selected based on the criteria set for the campaign. In the nail-biting final, all ten regional winners will then battle it out for the honour of being crowned UKTV's Local Food Hero 2008. One food hero will be awarded the highly coveted £40,000 prize to invest back into their business and transform lives.
