He has recently celebrated his 47th birthday which means he has been a chef for 31 years!
Norman was born and raised in Birmingham and went straight to Garretts Green Catering College (now Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies) from school at the age of 16.
After qualifying he gained considerable experience whilst working in Germany for several months. On his return he proceeded to work in several large fine dining establishments, among them The Metropole Hotel in Birmingham and Crockfords Casino in London.
Norman has been Head Chef at High Moor Restaurant for six years during which time he has gained a loyal following of those 'in the know'. He is responsible for creating all the menus and indeed, many of the dishes that they contain - a challenge which he really enjoys.
Norman says that he is most influenced by the French style of cooking and names Anton Mosimann as his greatest inspiration. He has successfully adapted this style of cooking for the High Moor which has a well deserved reputation for fine British cuisine with a modern twist and a hint of international flavour.
