Turton Tower

Turton Tower

A distinctive English country house located on the edge of the popular walking area of the West Pennine Moors, Turton Tower has evolved over five centuries.

Originally built by the Tudor Orrell family to defend their land, it later became a luxurious home. The house was lavishly furnished and extended in both the Tudor and early Stuart periods.

After falling into decline during the Georgian era, the house was rescued by the Kay family who restored and extended the house, taking it into the Victorian period.

Free parking, coach parking, shop, café, limited access for disabled users, admittance to guide dogs.

Opening times - March, April and October open Monday - Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm. May - September open Monday - Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 12pm-5pm. Open Bank holidays weekends during season.

The Tea Room has been accredited with the Taste Lancashire Quality Assured Grading and has been recognised for their quality food and use of locally sourced produce, visitor facilities and hospitality.
