Walkers of all abilities will dig their hiking boots out to take part in the second annual Rossendale Walking Festival this year.
The festival will take place on the first weekend of October and this year the Festival comes with a rather tasty twist.
In celebration of Taste Lancashire 08 - The Year of Food and Drink, this year's walking festival will feature a host of aptly named 'foodie' walks.
The interesting programme of walks range from seven miles to 12 and includes The Soup Loop, Sarsaparilla Stroll, The Fudge Trudge, Black Pudding Plod and Wind Turibines & Whisky Trail. Visit www.ruralrossendale.co.uk
October has been assigned as`Producers Month' in Lancashire with many local farmers' markets taking place throughout Lancashire.
The weekend of the Walking Festival will coincide with the Rossendale Farmers' Market in Helmshore, which gives people more of a reason to come and celebrate.
Nestled within the heart of the Pennines, the Rossendale Valley is one of the North West's most cherished hidden gems, with walks and trails ready to be discovered and enjoyed by all.
Ranging from gentle leisurely jaunts, to high energy and high altitude exploits, each walk will be led by an experienced guide who will ensure everyone is safe amd well throughout the day.
The Festival will provide opportunities for walkers of all types to see something of the area's natural, cultural and buildings heritage and will also help to promote walking and health.
