All that glitters is gold for Pleasure Beach.

Pleasure Beach, Blackpool has struck gold, being named joint 5th BEST AMUSEMENT PARK IN THE WORLD by the prestigious Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards - the 'Oscars' of the amusement industry.

In a line up dominated by American super parks, Pleasure Beach is the only British park to be featured in any category and the highest ranked European park to be named on the honours list, firmly cementing the 111 year old amusement parks' status as the best on the continent.

In addition to the coveted 'BEST PARK' category, Pleasure Beach featured as 2nd BEST SEASIDE PARK in the world and spectacular Viking adventure VALHALLA came 2nd in the world's 'BEST WATER RIDE' category.

Commenting, Pleasure Beach Managing Director Amanda Thompson said: "This is fantastic news! Pleasure Beach has it all - the history, the thrill rides, family attractions, fabulous shows and a great atmosphere, so its great to be recognised amongst the best parks in the world.

"The Golden Ticket Awards are sought after across the industry and acknowledge the best of the best so it really is a prestigious honour. We've always thought we have a great attraction in Pleasure Beach and its nice to know the thousands of enthusiasts, who enjoy visiting the park, agree."

Chairman of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain, Andy Hine MBE, added: "Pleasure Beach is still the coaster capital of Europe, and retains the perfect compliment of traditional rides such as Noah's Ark and the Big Dipper, and modern rides like the Pepsi Max Big One and Infusion. It's fun, value for money and everything you could possibly want for a great day out - that's why it's the best!"

The Grand National also made the more universal list of Top 50 Wooden Rollercoasters (number 28) and the Pepsi Max Big One ranked in the Top 50 Steel Rollercoasters (number 44).
