Guy’s Thatched Hamlet is celebrating the 18th annual Guy’s Oyster Festival the 1st in association with Guinness from 3rd – 8th September 2009. It is set to attract more than 7,000 local and international visitors this time around.
The festival started small and has grown to include Oyster Eve on Thursday 3rd September from 9pm, in ‘Owd Nell’s Tavern with Live Irish music & dancing – help us to wake the Oysters!
The Festival Marquee opens with a seafood luncheon on Friday 4th September where more than 5,000 oysters will be consumed.
The traditional Irish jig event being held on Saturday 5th September attracted 2,000 guests last year and a great night of Irish Craic is guaranteed! Tickets are on sale at a cost of £12 including supper.
Sunday 6h September is the Family Jamboree – with lots of fun for all the family – circus school, fairground rides, Punch & Judy, birds of prey etc. Lancashire County Cricket Club take on a Guy’s Invitation XI wickets pitched at 2pm. There is no admission charge.
On Monday 7th September the Guy’s Golf Open takes place followed by a Gala Dinner with guest speaker Jed Stone.
A “Lancashire Night” a “reet” good evening with Norman Prince and friends, on Tuesday 9th September – tickets are on sale at £10 including Hog Roast.
The 2008 festival raised £38,000 for local charities.
