Rufford Old Hall

One of the finest 16thC buildings in Lancashire. The timber-framed Tudor hall in late-medieval style, is remarkable for its ornate hammer-beam roof and screen. In the Carolean Wings, which were altered in 1821, there are fine collections of 17thC oak furniture, 16thC weapons, armour and tapestries.

The magnificent timber-framed Tudor hall, with impressive wood carvings, is believed to have hosted the young William Shakespeare.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds but not on the informal gardens.

Jct 27 off the M6, onto Parbold A5209, right onto B5246 signposted Rufford, follow Rufford signs A59, turn right, entrance 0.25 mile on right.

Public Transport Directions

10 minutes walk from Rufford railway station.

Left out of station, at T-junction (A59) turn right, entrance on the right.
