Kirkham is situated amid pleasant villages and farmlands within easy reach of coastal resorts and with excellent shopping facilities. With it's beautiful floral beds, Kirkham & Wesham have been very successful in the National Britain in Bloom Competition.
Kirkham is very old and is regarded as the unofficial capital of the market gardening community in this region. There was a church which dated back to 640 AD where the nineteenth century Parish Church now stands.
Kirkham market was chartered in 1296. The market and market square, owned by the Lord of Manor, gave the town a Manor Charter.
The ancient Fish Stones stand in the market square, is used for the weekly market held every Thursday.
