Blackburn Cathedral has a Georgian nave with 20thC extensions, sculptures by John Hayward and Josephina De Vasconcellos and Burne-Jones windows. A unique lantern tower and a fine contemporary Walker organ. When the diocese of Blackburn was formed in 1926, Blackburn Parish Church was chosen as the cathedral.
