01. Darwen Tower Walk 2

A West Pennine Moors Trail starting at Sunnyhurst Wood Lychgate car park, this circular walk takes in some fantastic views of the surrounding countryside from Darwen Moors.

02. Brontes in Pendle

From windswept moors to hidden valleys, walk in the landscape that inspired the Brontes. Starting in the village of Trawden, the walk passes 17th century farmhouses and the beauty spot of Lumb Spout before taking the old moorland pack horse trail to the village of Wycoller with its Brontë associations.

04. Darwen Tower Walk 1

A West Pennine Moors Trail, Darwen Tower celebrates Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and to many local people it also celebrated the freeing of Darwen Moor in the previous year.

The Reelers Trail forms part of the long distance Witton Weavers Way. This walk covers a beautiful rural landscape where historical sites of industry, farming and religion combine to produce a fascinating trail.

Observe views of the Preston skyline, pass under railway bridges and follow riverside paths on this ramble in South Ribble.

07. Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve Ramble

A five mile ramble beginning at the Visitor Centre and taking in Longton marsh, the Ribble Way and the old Preston to Southport railway line.

09. Lune Valley Ramble

The Lune Valley Ramble traces the course of the River Lune's lower reaches through some of the North West's finest lowland countryside. Bounded by high moors, limestone hills and shadowed by the distant peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Leck Fell, the route offers excellent, easy walking and is signposted and waymarked throughout.

11. Ramble From Worden Park

This three mile ramble takes in Worden Park's Arboretum, Shawbrook stream and fantastic views across the Lancashire plain.

12. Ramble from Nabs Head Samlesbury

This ramble takes in some of the best countryside in the area and footpaths go close to a spectacular river valley but in certain parts it can be quite strenuous.

15. Beamers Trail

The Beamers Trail forms part of the long distance Witton Weavers Way. Beginning in the picturesque Witton Country Park, this is a beautiful walk covering both hill and valley, so some sections are fairly steep.

17. Tolkien Trail

Walk in the footsteps of author J.R.R. Tolkien who regularly stayed at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley. This walk explores the richly beautiful surrounding countryside that inspired him and a number of names which occur in 'The Lord of the Rings' are similar to those found locally.
