20th January 2012
Northcote’s twelfth annual food and wine festival, ‘Obsession’ is only days away, Monday 23rd January – Wednesday 1st February 2012.
The ten day annual event takes place at Northcote in Blackburn, the only Michelin- starred restaurant in Lancashire, run by Chef Patron Nigel Haworth and Managing Director, Craig Bancroft. This legendry gastronomic celebration offers some of the UK and Europe’s most talented chefs to cook their exclusive “one night only” menu at Northcote.
The festival has become one of the UK’s leading gourmet food festivals. Chefs from all corners of the world have participated in Obsession and over 70 chefs have now performed their craft from the kitchens of Northcote, over the last 12 years. Obsession is a great opportunity for chefs to network and bring their talents to an audience they don’t often get the opportunity to reach. This unique event gives food lovers from the North the chance to try different cuisines, when they may never have the chance to visit these restaurants.
“Everyone wins with Obsession; the chefs, our customers and our staff who get the opportunity to work in ten different ways, gaining invaluable experience from some of the great chefs around,”
“Our guests are certainly in for a treat this year, the menus all look incredible. It is 10 days of hard work and fun, but each year is always very different, I can’t wait,” comments Nigel Haworth, Chef Patron of Northcote.
The festival welcomes; Claude Bosi (Hibiscus, London); Bryn Williams (Odette’s, London); Madalene Bonvini-Hamel (British Larder, Suffolk); Lisa Allen (Northcote, Blackburn); Simon Rimmer (Greens, Didsbury), Hans Neuner (Ocean Restaurant, Portugal); Michael Smith (The Three Chimneys, Isle of Skye); Aktar Islam (Lasan, Birmingham); Tom Kerridge (Hand and Flowers, Marlow); Antonnin Bonnett (The Greenhouse, London) and Nigel Haworth (Northcote, Blackburn).
This is food elevated to performance art, chefs, entirely in their element. Each in turn, commanding centre stage and delivering tour de force. Chefs come to Northcote to share their passion for food with one of the most appreciative audiences in the country. It is perfectionists, inspired by an amazing supporting cast and the warmth and charm of this idyllic setting.
Craig Bancroft, Managing Director of Northcote said, “We have matched the perfect wines to compliment over 50 courses and we have put together some adventurous combinations, which will add an element of surprise to each menu.”
During Obsession guests will be given the option to make a silent bid for one of Northcote’s unique Wedgwood Cover Plates. All funds raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
