Nutters Grave, Sheep Cheese and Singing to Cows

26th October 2009

Last night (25th October), BBC Countryfile aired an episode featuring Lancashire. Topically, they visited Scare Kingdom Scream Park at Mrs Dowsons Ice Cream Parlour (where they sing to the cows). Still on until Thursday 5th November - book your tickets now!

Also featured was local storyteller and tour guide Simon Entwistle who visited Newchurch to talk about the Pendle Witches and showed us Alice Nutter's Grave. Highly topical in the run up to Halloween and only a few years until the 400th anniversary of the hanging of the Pendle Witches.

On a different theme, Matt and Julia visited on of Lancashire's prime cheesemakers - Leagrams Organic Dairy in Chipping. Bob Kitchin showed cheesemaking from sheep milk for cheese with a twist!

If you missed Countryfile and would like to catch up with these tales of Lancashire for inspiration, it is available on the BBC iplayer here.
