The stunning artworks in 'The Great Promenade Show' are designed to reflect Blackpool's environments, history and vibrancy.
The latest project to have reached completion is George Bancroft Park, a new recreational space alongside Blackpool's link road with the Motorway. Whilst the Park itself offers loads of activities for children and groups on the play area and all-weather pitches, it is the pair of 20-metre high climbing towers that are most spectacular. The competition standard towers dominate your drive into the heart of the resort, and welcome you into the town spelling out 'Blackpool' along the face.
Blackpool is world famous for its spectacular Illuminations, which take place annually from the end of August until the beginning of November. With the development of electronic controllers, fibre optics, lasers and video projection, Blackpool Illuminations have continually grown year by year. A new dimension has recently been added to the Illuminations - the Festival of Light.This festival now compliments the traditional Illuminations with a contemporary look at the concept of light and art working together to create entertainment. In 2007, the 'Festival of Light' will be held attracting more innovative instillations, which will be displayed in and around Blackpool during the Illuminations.
An icon of historic Blackpool, Blackpool Tower has stood proudly over the town for 112 years. A trip to the top of the Tower provides some of the best views in Blackpool.
