Summer at Stonyhurst College

This summer sees a variety of exciting events hosted at Stonyhurst College.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will be performing Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ in the beautiful Jesuit Gardens on Friday 13th July.

Don’t miss Stonyhurst’s first Classic Car and Motorcycle Show on the 12th August, featuring a display of vintage, classic and modern vehicles.

Alternatively, for a guided tour of the College and the opportunity to peruse the beautiful grounds, book onto our Open Weekend on the 18th & 19th August.

Every Wednesday throughout July & August . £5 ticket entry on the door.

Friday 13th July 2018
The Chapterhouse Theatre Company will perform an open-air production of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Deep in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside a terrifying mystery and a legendary nemesis await the arrival of the world’s greatest detective. When the wife of Doctor Watson suddenly disappears, a desperate quest to find her begins.

Bring along a rug and picnic and bask in the College’s magnificent Jesuit Gardens. The grounds are open to ticket holders from 5pm, and the performance begins at 7pm.

Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th August
Quality antiques and fine art fair with nationally known dealers selling a wide range of items to include town and country furniture, silver, glass, porcelain, antique and vintage jewellery, oriental rugs and carpets, antiquarian maps and prints, antique and contemporary bronze sculpture and paintings.

10.30am – 5.00pm daily
Admission £5.00

Sunday 12th August
A spectacular day of motoring heritage ideal for enthusiasts, day trippers and families. The display will also include a variety of club stands, sports and convertibles, kit, custom and replica and American vehicles.

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August
The College, Chapel Museum and gardens will be open to the public for guided tours.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see the various chapels and historic rooms within the building. This includes the Great Hall with portraits of the seven former pupils awarded the Victoria Cross, and the table on which Cromwell is reputed to have slept the night before the Battle of Preston in 1648.

Guided tours will run at set times throughout the day and will include entry to the Chapel Museum. Café facilities onsite, as well as entry to the gardens

Tour Times Daily - 10.30am / 11.30am / 12.30pm / 1.30pm
Please allow 1.5 hours for a guided tour. Parking and Café Facilities are available onsite. Limited disabled access. Afternoon Tea.

Why not treat yourself to afternoon tea in the Top Refectory, with a glass of prosecco, after your tour of the College? Afternoon tea must be pre-booked in advance.

August Bank Holiday Weekend
For the sixth consecutive year, the Great British Food Festival will be returning to Stonyhurst College. As always, the event promises to be a fun-filled day of food, drink, music, shopping and more! Celebrity chefs will take their turn on the chef demonstration stage, whilst the main outdoor stage is packed with live music acts of all varieties.
