The Bee Centre

Visit The Bee Centre and enter the incredible world of the honeybee. Their Visitor Centre is full of information, displays and activities which provide a fascinating insight into these amazing and important animals and their relationship with humans.

Their stunning, glass observation hive enables you to watch, up close, the fascinating workings of a honeybee hive, whatever the weather or time of year. See the bees bringing nectar and pollen back to the hive, making honey, building honeycomb and doing their ‘waggle dance’. They also regularly see baby bees emerging and the queen laying eggs.

Their friendly, expert staff are always on hand to chat about bees and beekeeping. They also deliver regular talks about what the bees are doing and how they live.

Award-winning Beekeeping Experience
If you are feeling adventurous you can book onto one of their 'Beekeeping Experiences'. These last for approximately 90 minutes. You will receive an introduction to honeybees and beekeeping from one of our experienced beekeepers, after which you will be able to put on one of their beekeeping suits and get 'up close and personal' with their bees. Pre-booking is advised as these are weather dependent and places are limited. For further details or to book direct click here www.thebeecentre.org

Their bee experiences also make a great present for Christmas, birthdays or special events. Gift vouchers can be provided.

Try and Buy
If you’re looking for honey; look no further. They sell top-quality, pure, local honeys and they provide free honey tastings. In the shop they also stock a wide range of bee-related products including honeycomb, beeswax candles, soaps, jewellery and other items. You can also try their famous, homemade honey fudge.

The Bee Centre is normally open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am until 4pm. They also open more frequently in school holidays. Check their website www.thebeecentre.org for the most up-to-date information.

The Bee Centre is a hive of activity and provides a great day out for families, children and anyone interested in honeybees. Entry and parking are free and dogs are welcome.

Go and visit – the place is buzzing!

They range from very mild to quite strong in flavour and from runny to set in consistency. The flavour and texture of their honeys are determined by the nectar the bees use to make them.
