Lancaster City Museum

Immerse yourself in the history of this fascinating city.  From warring Romans to heroic local WWI soldiers; conquering Vikings to crime and punishment in the Victorian era.  History comes to life at Lancaster City Museum.

Discover Lancaster’s ancient traditions, local industries and how people lived over the centuries.  Meet local figures through their portraits and see how Lancaster’s landscapes have evolved as you explore the artwork in a beautiful Georgian building.  There are dress-up costumes, hands-on games and a range of activities for the whole family.

You’ll also discover the King’s Own Royal Regimental collections in this iconic building.  Chart this local regiment’s fortunes during military campaigns, read their moving letters and marvel at the souvenirs they brought home from across the world.

With a rolling exhibition programme, half term craft and family activities, evening talks and an annual comedy night, there really is something for everyone.
