Chorley Market

Everything in my hand just 50p,” cries the trader. Standing and serving the people of Chorley for more than 500 years the famous markets are a treat and must see for every visitor.

Every Tuesday, stalls line the streets of Chorley town centre and together with the Covered Market, over 100 stalls sell everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to cosmetics and clothes. If you visit on a Tuesday, you will see stalls lining the streets of Fazakerley Street, Chapel Street, New Market Street, Cleveland Street and the bottom half of High Street.  Traditionally, the Tuesday market was held on the Flat Iron (sometimes known locally as the ‘Cattle Market’), however, in 2017, the market moved to the streets to make way for the extension to Market Walk shopping centre.

If you don’t visit on a Tuesday, the Covered Market also stands on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and there’s a special mixed-market on Mondays offering flea market bargains alongside regular stall holders.

Plus look out for the special food and craft markets on Fazakerley Street, which take place on the second Saturday of every month.

Chorley Markets also welcomes coach trips and group travel, with dedicated coach parking facilities and packages available. Group Travel providers should contact Chorley Council for further information.
